Honorary Consul General of Japan in St-John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador

The Consulate General of Japan in Montreal has appointed Mr. Victor L. Young as Honorary Consul General of Japan in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Mr. Young has been Honorary Consul General of Japan in St. John’s since 2001. He aims to promote exchanges between Japan and Canada and supports initiatives to increase the visibility of Japanese culture in Newfoundland and Labrador. In recognition of his distinguished accomplishments, he was awarded The Order of the Rising Sun in June 2016 from the Government of Japan. Mr. Young has also been awarded the Order of Canada.

Mr. Young has on many occasions expressed his will to continue to reinforce positive relations between Japan and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Honorary Consul General of Japan in Halifax, Nova Scotia

The Consulate General of Japan in Montreal has appointed Mr. Mark J. Surrette as Honorary Consul General of Japan in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

From 2001 to this day, as Honorary Consul General of Japan in Halifax, Mr. Surrette is contributing to promote exchanges and friendships between Japan and Canada. He is promoting public relations and visibility for Japan-related activities and following academic exchanges between Japan and Nova Scotia to encourage further exchanges. In recognition of his distinguished accomplishments, he was awarded The Order of the Rising Sun in 2017 from the Government of Japan.

Mr. Surrette is actively participating in various cultural exchange activities and meetings, working on strengthening the relationships between Japan and Nova Scotia.
