MEXT Scholarships

The Government of Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) offers scholarships to foreign students who wish to study at Japanese universities.
There are three types of scholarships offered through the Consulate General of Japan in Montreal: Japanese Studies Students, Undergraduate Students, and Research Students. Each covers the round-trip flight between Canada and Japan, full tuition, and a monthly allowance.

The Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) is an organization under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT). As a leader in providing student services, it administers scholarship and loan programs, international student support programs, and student life support programs.
Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS)
Established as an independent administrative entity promoting international scientific cooperation, the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) offers overseas reserchers several fellowship opportunities to conduct joint research activities in Japan with colleagues from local universities and research institutes.
