Donations for Victims of the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake
The Consulate General of Japan in Montreal offers its deepest sympathies to the victims of the January 1, 2024 earthquake whose hypocentre was in the Noto region of Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan (hereafter “Noto Peninsula Earthquake”).
Since January 31, the Consulate General is accepting donations to the “Government of Japan” or the “Japanese Red Cross Society” for the relief of those who were affected by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake.
Donations to the Government of Japan made through the Consulate General will be distributed among all victims; the details relative to distribution methods and the likes will be decided by the Cabinet Office at a later date.
Donations to the Japanese Red Cross Society made through the Consulate General will also be distributed in their entirety to earthquake victims.
In-person donations at the Consulate General of Japan in Montreal
The Consulate General of Japan in Montreal is accepting in-person donations by cash or cheque.
Upon your arrival at the Consulate General, please state a donation for victims of the Noto Peninsula Earthquake as the purpose of your visit.
Opening hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., on opening days.
If making your donation by cheque, please address it to “Consulat Général du Japon”, and indicate accordingly “Donation to the Government of Japan – Noto Peninsula Earthquake” or “Donation to the Japanese Red Cross Society – Noto Peninsula Earthquake” on the “Memo” line on the bottom left.

Please address the cheque to “Consulat Général du Japon”, and indicate accordingly “Donation to the Government of Japan – Noto Peninsula Earthquake” or “Donation to the Japanese Red Cross Society – Noto Peninsula Earthquake” on the “Memo” line on the bottom left.
Additionally, please include in the same envelope a free-format note stating the donor’s (1) full name (person or organization), (2) postal address, and (3) contact information. The Consulate General will subsequently send out a donation receipt.
