On June 17, during a visit to Québec City, Consul General Uchikawa attended the Quebec National Day celebration (la Fête nationale du Québec) hosted by Premier Christine Fréchette. The event brought together a large number of attendees, including provincial government ministers, senior officials, public corporations’ representatives, as well as consuls general and honorary consuls from various countries.

Following the Premier’s speech, guests engaged in cordial conversations in a warm and friendly atmosphere, enjoying traditional Quebec music performed by a live ensemble. In this relax setting, the Consul General had the opportunity to speak with Premier Fréchette, whom he already met when she was serving as Minister of Immigration, Francization and Integration, as well as with Minister of Health and Minister responsible for Seniors and Caregivers, Sonia Bélanger, with whom he had previously discussed population ageing, a shared issue in both Japan and Quebec.
