Festival Matsuri (July 5 and 6, 2025)

On July 5 and 6, the Festival Matsuri was held at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre of Montreal. Numerous booths offered Japanese food, sweets, kimonos, and various works of art and craft, recreating the typical atmosphere of summer festivals in Japan. Visitors also had the chance to enjoy a mikoshi parade, Japanese drum (wadaiko) performances, traditional folk dances, and many more.
In his speech, Consul General Uchikawa congratulated the organizers on the successful event, praised the efforts of the organizing team and volunteers, and expressed his hope that the festival would inspire more people to deepen their interest in Japanese culture.
The Consulate was also on site with a booth providing information about tourism in Japan, Japanese culture, the JET Programme, and MEXT Scholarships.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by!
