Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation (July 29, 2024)
On July 29, during their 28th edition, Fantasia International Film Festival was awarded the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation for the 2023 fiscal year. Fantasia has been held every summer in Montreal since 1996, screening a diverse array of films through various genres, with a particular focus on Asian cinematic works, including those from Japan.
In addition to showcasing numerous Japanese films each year, the festival also hosts a variety of events, including Q&A sessions with Japanese directors and actors.
The Fantasia International Film Festival received the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation for 2023 in recognition of its contribution to the promotion and spread of Japanese films and culture locally, its introduction of Japanese film technology, and its efforts in the dissemination of Japanese culture in Canada. The Consulate General of Japan in Montreal applauds the remarkable achievements of the Fantasia International Film Festival and extends its warmest congratulations.
