Presentation of the Consul General of Japan Award to Ms. Noriko Ishii (July 3, 2023)
On July 3, Consul General Saito bestowed Consul General’s Commendation to Ms. Noriko Ishii, owner of the Japanese restaurant Sakura in Montreal. Ms. Ishii opened her restaurant in 1973, and for 50 years now, the establishment has continued to contribute to the spread of Japanese culinary culture while becoming a favorite place for Montrealers and Japanese residents alike over the years. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whose family has cultivated friendly relations with Ms. Ishii for many years, attended the ceremony. Moreover, the Consul General’s Commendation ceremony was held as part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of Sakura restaurant. The Consulate General of Japan renews its sincere congratulations to Ms. Ishii and pays homage to her many achievements.
