Official visit of Consul General Saito to Québec City (May 30 and 31, 2023)


On May 30, during his official visit to Québec City, Consul General Jun Saito met with Mr. André Lamontagne, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of Quebec. Following Mr. Lamontagne’s visit to Japan last March, they shared ideas and opinions in regards to prospective collaborations. The following day, the Consul General met with Ms. Sonia Bélanger, Minister for Health and Responsible for Seniors, with whom he exchanged views on challenges associated with an ageing population, a phenomenon observed in both Japan and Quebec.
Québec Institute of Diplomacy


On May 31, Consul General Saito visited the Québec Institute of Diplomacy, which is headed by the ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie du Québec (MRIF). Following the Institute’s request, he gave a hybrid lecture on the current state of Japanese diplomacy to MRIF officials and Quebec government representatives. He also exchanged views and opinions on related topics with Mr. Daniel Lacroix, Executive Director of the Québec Institute of Diplomacy.
Rendez-vous Canada




On May 30 and 31, Consul General Saito, while on an official trip to Québec City, took part in Rendez-vous Canada (RVC), an event aiming to promote Canadian tourist destinations. There he met the President and CEO of Destination Canada, Marsha Walden, and the Managing Director of their Japan Office, Masayo Hando, with whom he discussed Japan-Canada cooperation in the context of fostering interest for Canada among Japanese travelers. Moreover, the Consul General had the opportunity to exchange a few words with the Federal Minister of Tourism Randy Boissonnault, confirming their mutual intention to deepen relations between Japan and Canada.
