Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation (February 2, 2023)

On Thursday, February 2 was held at the Saint-Valentin city hall the conferment ceremony of the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation onto Mr. Pierre Chamberland.

Saint-Valentin became twin city to Mimasaka in Okayama Prefecture many years ago, with 2022 marking the 25th anniversary. As Mayor of Saint-Valentin, Mr. Chamberland designated one day of the Valentine’s Day Festival, February 11, as “Japan Day”. Every year on that day, participants can discover Japanese culture through a variety of Japan-related activities. For his continued contribution to the promotion of a deeper mutual understanding between Japan and Canada, Mr. Chamberland has been awarded the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation of the 2022 fiscal year.

The Consulate General of Japan in Montreal wishes to express its deepest respect to Mr. Chamberland for his meritorious accomplishments as well as offer its sincerest congratulations.
