Otakuthon (August 5 to 7, 2022)

Otakuthon took place on August 5, 6 and 7 at the Palais des congrès in Montreal. Held in person for the first time in three years, the convention was a resounding success, with many “cosplayers” attending daily. The Consulate General of Japan took part in the event with a presentation and workshop of traditional Japanese dances by Komachi Montreal, demonstrations of tea ceremony and an information booth presenting different exchange programs. Consul General Jun SAITO also awarded a special prize to a team of participants of the "Masquerade" cosplay competition. It was certainly gratifying to see so many people who became fans of Japan through Japanese anime and manga.
