Foreign Minister’s Commendations for FY 2022: Mr. Pierre Chamberland, Mayor of the Municipality of Saint-Valentin (August 4, 2022)
On August 4, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan confirmed the recipients of the Foreign Minister’s Commendations for the 2022 fiscal year. In the province of Quebec, this commendation was awarded to Mr. Pierre Chamberland, Mayor of the Municipality of Saint-Valentin, for his longstanding and active collaboration in promoting bilateral relations between Japan and Canada.
The Municipality of Saint-Valentin is twinned with the Japanese city of Mimasaka, in Okayama Prefecture, and this year marks the 25th anniversary of their twinning. Mayor Chamberland has designated February 11 as the municipality's "Japan Day", offering a variety of activities to promote Japanese culture, celebrated as part of the "Valentine's Day Festival".
