The Municipality of Saint-Valentin’s Japan Day (July 2, 2022)



On Saturday, July 2, Consul General SAITO attended the Municipality of Saint-Valentin’s Japan Day, held for the first time in over two years. 2022 marks the 25th anniversary of the twinning of Saint-Valentin and the City of Mimasaka in Okayama Prefecture. On this joyous occasion, Japanese artist Yuki Isami gave a musical performance with traditional Japanese instruments, the koto, the ryuteki and shinobue flutes, and the shamisen. Saint-Valentin Mayor Pierre Chamberland, Member of Parliament Christine Normandin, Member of the National Assembly of Quebec Claire IsaBelle, and numerous citizens constituted her captivated audience. In celebration of the event and the anniversary of the twinning, a message from Mimasaka Mayor Seiji Hagiwara was read on site.
