Emperor’s Birthday National Day Reception (March 25, 2022)



On March 25 was held the National Day Reception on the Occasion of the Anniversary of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan. Following the national anthems of Japan and Canada and the speeches of representatives from the Government of Quebec and the City of Montreal, His Honor the Lieutenant-Governor of Quebec Mr. J. Michel Doyon and the President of the National Assembly Mr. François Paradis joined dignitaries on stage with Consul General SAITO for a “Kagami Biraki” ceremony. During the reception, guests enjoyed, notably, sampling Washoku dishes by resident diplomatic chef, Mr. Tomokazu MURAKAMI, sipping specially-offered sake, and visiting the Japan National Tourism Organization’s booth, taking in all the appeal and culture of Japan right at the venue.
In addition, during their tour of booths which were graciously presented by members of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Montreal, dignitaries in attendance—His Honor the Lieutenant-Governor of Quebec Mr. J. Michel Doyon; President of the National Assembly Mr. François Paradis; Minister of the Environment and the Fight against Climate Change Mr. Benoit Charette; and City Council Chair Ms. Martine Musau Muele—eagerly listened to the representatives of Japanese companies active on Quebec soil.
