Meeting with Mr. Jean Charest, former Quebec Premier (January 20, 2022)

On Thursday, January 20, Consul General SAITO met with former Quebec Premier Jean Charest to exchange on various topics. After having taken on different political roles such as that of Minister of Environment under Brian Mulroney’s federal government, Mr. Charest became Quebec’s Premier in 2003. Although he left office in 2012 after completing three mandates, he remains to this day active within Quebec’s political world as an advisor. During their discussion, Consul General SAITO had the opportunity to hear the former Premier’s point of view on Canada's political situation and foreign affairs, including Canada-Japan relations. He would like to work closely with Mr. Charest towards the deepening of Japan-Quebec and Japan-Canada relations.
