Judo Grand Prix (July 5 to 7, 2019)





From July 5 to 7, the first Judo Grand Prix in Canada was held in Montreal by the International Judo Federation. Led by Team Leader Kosei Inoue, the Japanese delegation secured 7 gold medals. On July 7, after the event, Consul General Izawa met with the team and hosted a reception in their honor, inviting members of Judo Canada, the International Olympic Committee, and local dojos, as well as aspiring judokas taking their first steps in the sport. At the start of the reception, Consul General Izawa and Team Leader Inoue reiterated how the weekend’s success further strengthens the sport’s momentum ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.
