Official Visit of Consul General Izawa to Quebec City (February 19 and 20, 2019)

During his official visit to Quebec City on February 19 and 20, 2019, Consul General Izawa made courtesy calls to the Honorable J. Michel Doyon, Lieutenant Governor of Quebec, and Mr. François Paradis, President of the National Assembly of Quebec.

He was also able to meet with Minister of International Relations and La Francophonie Nadine Girault to discuss the strengthening of Japan-Quebec relations, and both agreed to develop a synergetic collaboration going forward.

Mr. Izawa continued on to visit Finance and Innovation Minister Pierre Fitzgibbon to cover several topics, beginning with artificial intelligence and information and communication technologies, with the aim of a better development of Japan-Quebec economic relations, as well as Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food André Lamontagne to discuss the expansion of imports-exports between Japan and Quebec.

Finally, Mr. Izawa met with Minister of Tourism Caroline Proulx to discuss, among other topics, the direct flight linking Tokyo and Montreal, and to converse on Japanese tourism development with Quebec.
