The 16th edition of the Japanese summer festival “Matsuri Japon” was celebrated on August 12th at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre of Montreal. While various activities, such as traditional “taiko” drumming performances, “Bon Odori” dances, and “Omikoshi” parades were being held, the Consulate General of Japan in Montreal exhibited a Yukata dressing booth and information kiosks of Japanese traditional culture, the JET programme, etc. In spite of the sporadic rain, more than 10 000 visitors came to enjoy the lively atmosphere of a traditional Japanese summer festival.
