Honorary Consul General Mark James Surrette conferment ceremony (June 26, 2017)

On June 26th, Mr. Mark Surrette, Honorary Consul General of Japan in Halifax, was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon. The conferment ceremony took place in Halifax and was presided over by Mr. Kuramitsu, Consul General. Eighty people, including the Honourable Myra Freeman, former Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, and Mr. Mike Savage, Mayor of Halifax, as well as representatives of the local Japanese community, all celebrated the conferment of the Order on Mr. Surrette, who contributed to promoting exchanges and mutual understanding between Japan and Canada.
