Cherry trees plantation at the official residence (June 2, 2017)

To celebrate the lasting friendship between Japan and the province of Quebec, the Montreal Botanical Garden donated a Japanese Sakura tree (scientific name: Prunus nipponica Var. Korilences) to the Consul General of Japan in Montreal, Mr. Kuramitsu.
This tree, along with its nameplate, has been planted in the garden of the official residence of the Consul General. From now on, every spring, as a symbol of the valuable ties uniting Japan and Quebec, the Sakura tree’s cherry blossoms will brightly color the garden of the Consul General of Japan in Montreal.
