From March 11th to 19th, sixteen students from Hiroshima Jogakuin High School visited the province of Quebec as part of the Kakehashi Project, aimed at promoting and strengthening ties between Canada and Japan.

The students from Saint-Laurent High School who participated in this project and visited Japan in February 2017 also partook in this cultural exchange reception.

The Kakehashi project was born in April 2016, while the Minister of Foreign Affairs at the time, Mr. Stephane Dion, visited Japan with his spouse, Ms. Janine Krieber. During the G7 Foreign Affairs Ministers’ Meeting in Hiroshima, Ms. Krieber had the opportunity to discuss with the spouse of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Ms. Yuko Kishida, thus bringing about the idea of a project encouraging exchanges and mutual understanding between their two nations.

The Hiroshima Jogakuin High School students also visited the National Assembly of Quebec, the Quebec Ministry of International Relations and La Francophonie as well as the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). They also completed the school exchange with their visit to Saint-Laurent High School.
