The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme

The JET Programme was established with the purpose of increasing mutual understanding between the people of Japan and those of other nations, promoting the internationalisation of Japan's local communities by helping to improve foreign language education and developing international exchange at the community level.

The JET Programme is an international teaching and exchange program funded by the Government of Japan. Thousands of participants from different countries, including Canada, are invited to teach foreign languages in Japanese public schools, becoming ALTs (Assistant Language Teacher) and to support and maintain internationalization at a grassroots level as CIRs (Coordinator for International Relations) in the local Japanese communities.
