Please allow me to introduce myself, Tatsuo Arai, Consul General of Japan newly appointed to Montreal, just recently arrived from my previous posting at the Embassy of Japan in Portugal.
I have heard that people in Montreal are known to be generous and hospitable and that Montreal is a lovely place to live. Having previously visited in winter, I look forward to discovering the beautiful scenery and lush greenery that spring brings to Montreal.
During my tenure, I hope to enhance understanding of Japan among the people in the jurisdiction of the Consulate and deepen the ties between Japan and Quebec and the Atlantic Provinces. I was glad to learn that two exhibitions related to Samurai are being held in Montreal and Quebec City simultaneously this year. I think that this presents a great opportunity to promote Japanese culture.
In addition, I intend to visit as many places as possible within our jurisdiction and, should the occasion arise, I sincerely hope to have the opportunity to meet you.
With my best wishes,
Tatsuo Arai
Consul General of Japan at Montreal
